VinFast has celebrated the official opening of its Ha Tinh Electric Car Factory in Vietnam’s VungAng Economic Zone, marking a significant milestone for the electric vehicle maker. The factory, which covers 360,000 square meters, is capable of producing 200,000 vehicles annually. This brings VinFast’s total manufacturing plants to five, with existing facilities in the USA, Indonesia, and an upcoming one in India.

The VinFast Ha Tinh factory consists of various operational zones including a shell welding workshop, painting workshop, assembly line, logistics warehouse, and quality inspection center. An additional factory cluster of 240,000 square meters is currently under construction and will continue to grow over the coming years.

VinFast has invested in state-of-the-art production lines, featuring high levels of automation and advanced technology from top global partners such as ABB, Durr, Fanuc, and Siemens. The factory operates in compliance with international standards including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and IATF 16949 (Automotive Quality Management).

In the first phase of production, the Ha Tinh plant will focus on manufacturing small urban electric vehicles (EVs) such as the VF 3, Minio Green, EC Van, and other models in development. These vehicles will serve both the Vietnamese market and international exports.

Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, remarked, “The opening of the VinFast Ha Tinh factory is a key step in VinFast’s strategy to expand globally and increase production capacity. This facility will help us achieve our goal of producing one million vehicles annually, meeting the growing demand both domestically and internationally. It also showcases our ability to lead in technology, autonomous production, and sustainable transportation.”

In the first five months of 2025, VinFast sold over 56,000 electric cars, becoming the top EV brand in Vietnam. The VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 models were particularly popular. VinFast EVs are also gaining traction in markets such as the Philippines and Indonesia. With strong demand for SUVs in India, VinFast India is preparing to launch the VF7 and VF6 electric SUVs ahead of the festive season starting in September.

As part of its strategy to raise brand awareness, VinFast began showcasing its vehicles at major malls in key Indian cities starting June 21, offering customers an up-close look at the VF7 and VF6, which were first displayed at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. VinFast sees India as a strategic market due to its status as the world’s third-largest automobile market and one of the fastest-growing economies. The company plans to cater not only to the Indian market but also to export EVs made in India to South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The project also aims to leverage India’s strong automotive component manufacturing industry to strengthen VinFast’s global supply chain.

VinFast’s Thoothukudi plant in India will start with a CKD (completely knocked down) assembly operation and a production capacity of 50,000 units per year, with plans for expansion to 150,000 units and a broader range of models from premium to mass-market EVs. The company is a leading Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer and a subsidiary of Vingroup, one of Vietnam’s largest conglomerates.

Known for its rapid innovation and ambitious expansion, the company produces a range of EVs designed for both domestic and global markets. With production facilities in Haiphong and plans for a second factory in Ha Tinh, it is scaling its operations to meet increasing demand for sustainable mobility solutions.

The company is also pursuing international growth with planned assembly plants in Indonesia and India, while positioning itself as a key player in the global EV industry. VinFast’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement underpins its strategy to make EVs accessible and environmentally friendly for a diverse customer base.
