VinFast Auto India, a subsidiary of the Vietnam-based electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, has recruited 200 employees for its upcoming plant in Tuticorin, which is slated to begin operations soon. This hiring follows a large recruitment campaign in April that attracted 344 diploma holders from the surrounding region.

With support from District Collector K Elambahavath and the State Industries Department, VinFast adopted a collaborative approach by working closely with local institutions to select candidates. The company aims to create around 3,500 jobs over the next five years, with hiring phased in accordance with the plant’s growth, according to an official statement.

VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau praised Elambahavath and the Industries Department for their crucial role in turning workforce development objectives into tangible results.

“As we expand in India, we are committed to investing in the talent and potential of Tamil Nadu. This facility will not only generate diverse job opportunities but also act as a driver for regional development and help build a strong, inclusive, and high-performing manufacturing ecosystem serving both domestic and international markets,” he said.

The company plans to implement a hybrid recruitment model, where approximately 80% of the plant’s workforce will be fresh graduates or trainees from local communities, while the remaining 20% will consist of experienced professionals sourced from established Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). VinFast Auto is a Vietnam-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer rapidly expanding its global footprint, including into India through its subsidiary, VinFast Auto India.

Known for its commitment to sustainable mobility, the company focuses on producing electric cars, scooters, and battery solutions with a strong emphasis on innovation and clean energy. As part of its international growth strategy, VinFast is setting up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, aiming to create thousands of jobs and contribute to India’s EV ecosystem. With a blend of local talent and global expertise, VinFast seeks to become a key player in the global EV market while supporting regional development and green transportation goals.
