Versuni, previously known as Philips Domestic Appliances, plans to double its business in India within the next 4-5 years. The company expects growth in kitchen appliances and garment care to drive this expansion. India is the fifth-largest market for Versuni globally.
Versuni is expanding its product range, including the introduction of coffee machines to tap into India’s growing coffee culture. Gulbahar Taurani, MD and CEO of Versuni India Subcontinent, said, “We have grown year-on-year despite challenges in the last three years, thanks to a diverse portfolio.”
The company is focusing on new categories in India like air fryers and garment steamers, which are seeing high double-digit growth. Other segments are growing in high single digits. Overall, Versuni is growing faster than the industry average.
In January, Versuni India opened a new facility in Gujarat with an initial capacity of 5 lakh air fryers and 2 lakh garment steamers per year. This capacity can be increased based on demand. Taurani said, “We aim to double the India business in the next 4-5 years. India is a significant market for Versuni in terms of turnover.”
Versuni is also looking to capitalize on the growing coffee culture in India. Taurani said, “Indian consumers want the same coffee experience at home as their favorite cafe. We have launched coffee machines in Delhi and Mumbai, and the response has been fantastic. We will gradually expand to other top cities.”
