VeriSilicon has announced the successful integration of its AI-ISP custom chip solution into a customer’s mass-produced smartphones, reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in offering comprehensive custom silicon services for AI vision processing. The AI-ISP solution by VeriSilicon combines proprietary or third-party Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU) IP and Image Signal Processing (ISP) IP, merging traditional image processing with AI algorithms.

This integration enhances image and video quality, dynamic range, and adaptability to different environments. The chip is highly versatile, with support for RISC-V or Arm-based processors, MIPI image interfaces, LPDDR5/4X memory integration, and common peripheral interfaces such as UART, I2C, and SDIO, making it suitable for smartphones, surveillance systems, and automotive electronics.

For this collaboration, VeriSilicon designed a power-efficient AI-ISP system-on-chip (SoC) based on the RISC-V architecture, customized to meet the customer’s needs. The SoC, paired with a FreeRTOS real-time Software Development Kit (SDK), was optimized for smooth integration with the customer’s main processor. After rigorous testing, the chip has been successfully deployed in multiple smart devices, reaching large-scale production. This achievement underscores VeriSilicon’s expertise in heterogeneous computing, software-hardware co-optimization, and system-level integration.

“AI-powered imaging has become a crucial feature in today’s smartphone market, driving demand for high-performance, low-power image processing solutions,” said Wiseway Wang, Executive VP and General Manager of VeriSilicon’s Custom Silicon Platform Division. “VeriSilicon’s full range of services—from IP licensing and chip architecture design to system-level development, testing, and mass production—enables us to deliver efficient, high-quality custom chips that help our customers accelerate the launch of innovative, differentiated products.”

VeriSilicon continues to offer comprehensive, platform-based custom silicon services, backed by its in-house semiconductor IP, to help customers develop cutting-edge technology solutions across a wide range of applications.
