On National MSME Day, Vedanta Limited, a leading player in critical minerals, transition metals, energy, and technology, announced that its online metals marketplace, Vedanta Metal Bazaar, has recorded total sales of INR 40,000 crores (approximately $4.7 billion). This platform is recognized as the largest non-ferrous metals e-store globally, offering over 1200 products across metals such as aluminium, zinc, lead, and copper. Vedanta Metal Bazaar provides customers with a seamless digital platform that simplifies metal procurement by enabling efficient and cost-effective purchasing.

Non-ferrous metal buying has traditionally been complicated due to fluctuating commodity prices and the need for advance planning with limited pricing visibility. Vedanta Metal Bazaar addresses these challenges by offering a user-friendly online solution that includes features such as instant order placement, real-time shipment tracking, price risk management, long-term contracts, logistics support, and financial assistance. These services make it easier for businesses of all sizes to access premium metals without hassle.

The platform removes restrictions on order sizes, giving businesses flexibility to purchase according to their production needs. By eliminating middlemen, Vedanta Metal Bazaar empowers small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to directly source metals from one of the world’s largest inventories. This approach has contributed to a 240% growth in active users and a 35% increase in SME registrations within six months, signaling a significant shift toward digital metal procurement in India. Currently, 60% of the platform’s users are MSMEs.

A standout innovation is the full integration with leading price hedging providers, allowing buyers to manage commodity price risks as part of their purchase process. Additionally, embedded financing options, developed through partnerships with top banks and non-banking financial companies, have supported over ₹1,150 crore in sales by making credit more accessible.

Gaurav Verma, Director of Pranava Electrical Industries Private Ltd, praised the platform, saying, “Vedanta Metal Bazaar has transformed how MSMEs procure metals. Its straightforward interface and lack of minimum order requirements make metal buying simpler than ever.” Nilesh Patil, VP-Operations at Kothari Metsol, shared his experience: “The platform offers a comprehensive, one-stop solution for zinc procurement—from placing orders to financial management and shipment tracking.”

Abhishek Aggarwal, owner of Sant Aluminium in Alwar, added, “Vedanta Metal Bazaar exceeded my expectations by offering a hassle-free way to purchase aluminium. The easy-to-use mobile app and flexible ordering have greatly improved my business planning.”

Vedanta Metal Bazaar stocks a wide range of products, including aluminium ingots, billets, wire rods, copper cathodes and rods, high-grade zinc, zinc alloys, and lead ingots. The platform also provides access to Vedanta’s low-carbon ‘green’ products such as Restora Aluminium and EcoZen Zinc. Vedanta’s Customer Technical Services team works closely with clients to fulfill specific requirements.
