Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, is committed to meeting the emerging demand for aluminium by providing high-quality, domestically developed products for the engineering and technology sectors. The company aims to expand its value-added product portfolio to maximize the use of aluminium in advanced applications.

While there are approximately 3,000 technological applications of aluminium globally across various industries, India has explored only about 300 so far. Despite having abundant bauxite reserves and sufficient production capacity, India remains one of the largest importers of aluminium in the world. Vedanta Aluminium alone produces nearly 60% of India’s aluminium and actively contributes to strengthening the domestic value chain by exploring new technological applications and providing customised products for allied industries.

Aluminium has become a critical raw material in both established and emerging sectors due to its exceptional properties, such as high strength-to-weight ratio, ductility, malleability, conductivity, corrosion resistance, and recyclability. These properties make aluminium durable for electronic goods and provide strength to aerospace vehicles.

According to a World Bank report, aluminium is one of the key metals that will facilitate the transition to a low-carbon future, leading to increased applications in various sectors. Vedanta Aluminium is recognized as the preferred supplier of aluminium products in technology-driven critical sectors like aerospace, defense, automotive, smart infrastructure, and energy distribution. The company has introduced a low carbon footprint aluminium range, branded as Restora and Restora Ultra, to support customers in decarbonizing their operations.

On the occasion of National Technology Day, Mr Rahul Sharma, CEO, Vedanta Limited – Aluminium Business, reiterated the role of aluminium in emerging technologies, “The world seeks to transition to a low-carbon future, one that is undoubtedly going to be metal intensive. Aluminium, with its unique properties, has established itself as the go-to metal for a slew of high-end technological applications. With one of the largest product portfolios in the world, Vedanta Aluminium is uniquely positioned to meet the rapidly-evolving requirements of our customers through increased product sophistication, unmatched quality, and operational excellence.”
