On World Environment Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, announced a significant partnership with PwC India to advance sustainability efforts in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. This collaboration, which will initially focus on decarbonization, water positivity, and biodiversity conservation, marks a critical step towards Vedanta’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 and water positivity by 2030. The partnership will first target biodiversity projects at Vedanta’s Jharsuguda smelter before expanding to all of its operational regions.

Under this collaboration, PwC India will assist Vedanta Aluminium in delivering key sustainability outcomes. These include a decarbonization roadmap aligned with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, efforts to reduce water consumption to achieve water positivity by 2030, and the development of biodiversity management plans aimed at ensuring no net loss of biodiversity. Additionally, PwC will explore the adoption of Science-Based Targets (SBTi) to align Vedanta’s emissions reduction targets with the global climate goals set by the Paris Agreement.
