VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), a collaboration between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, introduced three new bus models at the PRAWAAS 4.0 event. The showcase featured the Volvo 9600 coach, the Eicher Skyline Pro-E 13.5 m electric intercity coach, and the Eicher Skyline Pro 3010 school bus.
The company emphasized that its offerings align with the Indian government’s push for a modern, sustainable public transportation system, catering to a wide range of travel needs from budget to premium segments.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV, highlighted the company’s role in supporting the government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” through advanced mobility solutions. Suresh Chettiar, Executive Vice President of VECV’s Bus Division, stressed the company’s commitment to providing “passenger-centric” solutions for fleet operators across the country.
The Volvo 9600 coach, available in both seating and sleeper configurations, has been upgraded to enhance passenger comfort and safety, offering features such as soft-touch interiors, personal infotainment systems, and improved ambient lighting.
The Eicher Skyline Pro-E 13.5 m Intercity Electric coach, designed for long-distance travel, boasts a monocoque platform, silent driveline, ergonomic seating, and automatic climate control for passenger comfort.
The Eicher Skyline Pro 3010 School bus, part of Eicher’s premium school bus lineup, includes advanced features like Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) and enhanced safety systems such as the Fire Alarm and Protection System (FAPS) and Fire Detection and Spray Suppression System (FDSS). VECV also highlighted its use of connected fleet technology and an Uptime Center, which the company claims can help bus operators increase productivity and efficiency.
