VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has entered into a strategic agreement with Jio-bp pulse to expand charging infrastructure access for electric trucks and buses across India. Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), customers of Eicher’s electric commercial vehicles will gain access to Jio-bp’s rapidly growing network of over 6,000 fast-charging stations, covering key urban hubs, highways, and dedicated EV facilities designed to support various commercial vehicle formats.
Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp, operates one of India’s largest and most advanced EV charging networks under the brand Jio-bp pulse. This collaboration marks a significant step in scaling up infrastructure required for the wider adoption of electric mobility in the commercial segment.
As part of the agreement, the two companies will work together to accelerate the deployment of electric trucks and buses by combining their respective strengths. Jio-bp will contribute its expertise in building and managing large-scale charging networks, while VECV will bring its in-depth knowledge of electric vehicle technology and operational requirements.
A major feature of this partnership is the integration of real-time charging station data into the “My Eicher” fleet management app. Fleet operators will be able to view charging point locations, availability status, and other critical information directly through the platform—helping eliminate a major barrier to EV adoption: charging visibility and access.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV, commented “Integrating Jio-bp’s fast-charging network into our My Eicher app addresses a key challenge for electric fleet operators. It ensures reliable access to high-power chargers across operational zones, making electric mobility more viable for commercial applications.” Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, added “This partnership is a key milestone in our mission to redefine the mobility ecosystem in India. Together with VECV, we aim to make electric transport a practical and sustainable choice for fleet owners and operators.”
In addition to public charging access, the companies will explore depot-level solutions and tailor-made infrastructure projects to meet the specific needs of fleet customers. These may include large-scale charging setups for bus depots and logistics hubs, with additional agreements to be developed as per customer demand.
