VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has announced a collaboration, revealing a partnership with leading conglomerate ITC Ltd. The aim is to champion sustainable and eco-conscious mid-mile logistics solutions. By joining forces, both entities intend to revolutionize the way logistics are handled, prioritizing sustainability while addressing the pressing need for environmentally friendly solutions.
VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) is a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited, one of India’s leading automotive manufacturers. VECV specializes in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses, catering to both domestic and international markets. It has garnered recognition for its advanced engineering solutions, fuel-efficient engines, and environmentally friendly technologies.
ITC Limited, a diversified conglomerate headquartered in India, operates across various sectors including consumer goods, hotels, agribusiness, paperboards, and packaging. In an innovative collaboration, ITC, in conjunction with its network of vendor partners, is set to roll out more than 100 units of the cutting-edge 5.5-tonne electric vehicle, the Eicher Pro 2055 EV. These vehicles will play a crucial role in mid-mile transportation, facilitating the seamless movement of goods from ITC’s warehouses to customer destinations.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) emphasized the alignment of this initiative with VECV’s vision of delivering contemporary logistics solutions geared towards heightened productivity and efficiency. Sandeep Sule, Divisional Chief Executive of Trade Marketing and Distribution at ITC highlighted the strategic significance of this move within the company’s broader agenda.
Mr Sule emphasized that the foundation of ITC’s next-phase strategy, which aims to steer the company towards sustained growth and competitiveness, is the necessity of designing flexible, robust, and environmentally responsible supply chains.
