Vargus India, the Pune-based subsidiary of global tooling leader Vargus Ltd, announced the appointment of Rakesh Solanki as its new Managing Director. In this role, Rakesh Solanki will spearhead strategic initiatives to deepen customer engagement, expand market reach across India’s key industrial sectors, and strengthen the company’s position as a provider of cutting-edge metalworking solutions.

Led by Ashok Makhija, Vargus India established its Indian headquarters and warehouse in Pune in November 2011, commencing commercial operations in April 2012. The subsidiary provides technical solutions and application support to customers in oil & gas, valves & fittings, automotive, defence, aerospace and general engineering industries across the country. With its local warehouse, extensive training programs and a network of channel partners, Vargus India ensures rapid delivery and expert on-site support for its VARDEX threading, GROOVEX grooving and SHAVIV deburring product lines.

With over two decades of experience in the metalworking tools industry, Rakesh Solanki has held leadership roles at Dormer Pramet, Walter Tools and Ion Bond. He is renowned for driving growth through strategic market development, mentoring high-performance teams, and implementing customer-focused innovations. Rakesh Solanki’s deep expertise in process optimisation and product application support has been instrumental in strengthening distributor networks and elevating brand value in both domestic and emerging international markets.
Under Rakesh Solanki’s leadership, Vargus India will accelerate its focus on Strategic Growth Initiatives by expanding market penetration in core automotive, aerospace and energy segments. The focus will be on Team Development through mentoring and empowering technical teams to achieve excellence and drive innovation. Rakesh will lead the Customer-Centric Innovation by collaborating closely with customers to co-develop solutions that enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.
