VA Tech WABAG has been awarded a consortium contract valued at USD 371 million (approximately Rs 3,251 crore) by Al Haer Environmental Services Company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project involves the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP), along with connections to outfall delivery facilities, as confirmed by WABAG in a statement on Sunday.

This ISTP is being developed by a consortium consisting of Miahona Company (lead), Marafiq, and N.V. Besix S.A. for the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), the primary off-taker for water and wastewater initiatives in the Kingdom. Earlier this year, WABAG also secured an engineering and procurement contract for a 20 MLD industrial wastewater treatment plant at the Ras Tanura Refinery Complex, where Miahona Company is the project developer.

The ISTP project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” initiative, which aims to enhance sewage treatment services and improve living standards across the Kingdom. Sivakumar V, Regional Head of Sales and Marketing, noted that this order “marks a significant achievement for us in Saudi Arabia and strengthens our leadership position in the Middle East.”
