VA Tech Wabag Secures ₹700 Crore Wastewater Treatment Order in Zambia

VA Tech Wabag Ltd announced a significant order win worth €78 million (approximately ₹700 crore) from the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company in Zambia. This project marks the company’s entry into Zambia and strengthens its footprint in Africa.

Funded by the European Investment Bank and Germany’s KreditanstaltfürWiederaufbau (KfW), the contract involves the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of two state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plants. These facilities, with capacities of 54 Megaliters Per Day (MLD) and 19 MLD, will be constructed in the Zambian cities of Ngwerere and Chunga. The EPC phase is slated to last 36 months, followed by a two-year Operation & Maintenance period to ensure optimal functionality.

VA Tech Wabag highlighted that this initiative will be among Zambia’s most advanced sanitation projects in recent times. The company attributed the contract win to its expertise in delivering high-quality water and wastewater treatment solutions, coupled with a technically robust and competitive proposal.
