UltraTech Cement Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company, reported an 18.9% year-on-year increase in consolidated net sales to ₹23,024 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹19,371 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax (PBIDT) rose 17.3% to ₹3,832 crore from ₹3,268 crore in Q2 FY26. Profit after tax (PAT) increased 21.3% to ₹1,501 crore, against ₹1,238 crore a year earlier.

The company recorded domestic grey cement sales volumes of 35.94 million tonnes during the quarter, an increase of 13.8% from 31.58 million tonnes in the same period last year. The growth came despite monsoon-related challenges and the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Capacity utilisation improved to 71% from 66% in the corresponding quarter of FY26. UltraTech attributed its performance to execution, an expanded market presence, cost optimisation and an increased focus on premium products.

During the quarter, the company entered the wires and cables segment with the launch of Ultravolt, expanding its Building Products portfolio. A manufacturing facility was commissioned at Jhagadia, Gujarat, and the company is developing a pan-India distribution network for the new business.

The planned production capacity for Ultravolt involves the consumption of 78,000 tonnes of copper and 24,000 tonnes of aluminium. According to the company, this capacity positions it as the second-largest player in the housing wires segment by capacity. The brand has received market interest from retailers, electricians and industry influencers, with a focus on product quality, safety and performance.

UltraTech also expanded its cement manufacturing capacity during the quarter. It commissioned 3.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of greenfield integrated capacity at Petnikota in Andhra Pradesh and added 1.0 mtpa through debottlenecking at its existing plants in Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara.

As of September 30, 2026, UltraTech’s consolidated domestic grey cement capacity stood at 204.7 mtpa. Including 5.4 mtpa of overseas capacity, its global capacity reached 210.1 mtpa. The company remains on track to increase its capacity to more than 240 mtpa by March 2028 through its organic capital expenditure programme.

On sustainability, UltraTech added 117 MW of renewable energy capacity and 10 MW of waste heat recovery system (WHRS) capacity during the quarter. These additions are expected to increase the contribution of renewable and recovered energy to its overall energy mix.

UltraTech Cement is India’s largest cement manufacturer and a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, with a strong global footprint spanning India, the Middle East, and South Asia. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company has grown into the world’s largest cement producer outside China, driven by a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. Under the leadership of Kumar Mangalam Birla, UltraTech has consistently scaled its operations, recently surpassing the 200 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity milestone.

The company’s product portfolio includes ordinary Portland cement, Portland blast furnace slag cement, ready-mix concrete, and white cement, catering to infrastructure, housing, and commercial construction sectors. UltraTech’s growth strategy has balanced greenfield and brownfield capacity additions with acquisitions of major cement assets such as L&T Cement, Jaypee Cement, and Binani Cement, enabling rapid market expansion.

Sustainability is a key focus area, with the company investing in waste heat recovery, renewable energy, and low-carbon technologies to reduce its environmental footprint. UltraTech plays a vital role in India’s infrastructure development, supplying materials for highways, urban infrastructure, and large-scale industrial projects. Its scale, operational efficiency, and innovation-driven approach continue to position it as a leader in the global cement industry.
