Uber has teamed up with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in key Indian cities by 2026, advancing its goal of expanding electric vehicle options on its platform. This partnership aligns with Uber’s global target to offer 100% emission-free rides by 2040 and strengthens its commitment to promoting clean energy solutions. The new fleet of 1,000 EVs will be available for riders in cities where demand for sustainable transportation is rising.
Refex Green Mobility, a subsidiary of Refex Industries based in Chennai, operates under the brand Refex eVeelz. The electric vehicles will be deployed across Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, marking a major step in Uber’s mission to electrify urban transportation.
Aditya Kapoor, Head of Supply and Electrification at Uber India and South Asia, said, “This partnership with Refex eVeelz is a significant move toward Uber’s commitment to zero-emission mobility in India. By adding more electric ride options, we are helping make urban transportation greener and supporting the transition to sustainable mobility.”
Sachin Navtosh Jha, Chief of Staff at Refex Group, added, “We are proud to work with Uber to expand electric mobility across India. This collaboration, alongside our existing B2B and B2C operations, will contribute to reducing urban carbon emissions and support India’s sustainability goals.”
As part of its broader push for electrification, Uber has already launched Uber Green in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, enabling users to request an all-electric, zero-emission vehicle with ease. Uber Green is the largest on-demand, low-emission ride service globally, available in over 100 cities across 15 countries. Through this partnership, Uber and Refex eVeelz are significantly advancing the availability of electric vehicles in India, helping create a more sustainable urban transportation ecosystem.
Uber launched in India in 2013 with a simple promise: press a button, get a ride. Now available in 125 cities across the country, Uber has facilitated over 3 billion trips. With a diverse range of transportation options, including Moto, Auto, Cars, and Buses, Uber continues to make mobility accessible for millions.
