TVS Indeon Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of auto-components manufacturer Lucas TVS Ltd, has significantly increased its lithium battery production capacity at its facility in Tamil Nadu. The expansion aims to meet the rising demand for lithium-ion battery packs in the growing e-mobility sector.
The factory, situated at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thervoy Kandigai, Gummidipoondi, began operations in 2024 with an initial capacity of 1 GWh and the ability to produce up to 1,500 battery packs per day. With the facility expansion, TVS Indeon plans to double its daily output to 1,000 packs, add a second shift, and hire over 200 new employees.
The company anticipates that the plant will reach its full production capacity by March 2026. Chairman and Managing Director of Lucas-TVS Ltd and TVS Indeon, T K Balaji, highlighted that this growth is a crucial step in delivering affordable and high-quality e-mobility solutions while contributing to a more sustainable and cleaner future.
The enhanced facility, which currently supplies exclusively to TVS Motor Company, will help meet the rising demand for lithium-ion battery packs in the e-mobility and energy storage markets. The milestone was celebrated with the presence of key officials, including SIPCOT Executive Director D Sneha and TVS Motor Company Director and CEO K N Radhakrishnan.
