On Tuesday, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced the election of TV Narendran, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Steel, as its new chairman. Narendran becomes the second Indian to hold this prestigious position, following Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group, who served as chairman in 2021.
The organization also elected Ugur Dalbeler from Colakoglu Metalurji AS and Leon Topalian, President and CEO of Nucor Corporation, as Vice Chairs. Additionally, Narendran has been named a member of the association’s 17-member Executive Committee, joining notable figures such as Jindal, ArcelorMittal’s Executive Chairman LN Mittal, Topalian, and Dalbeler.

The World Steel Association represents around 85% of global steel production, comprising over 160 steel producers, national and regional industry associations, and research institutes.
