In a landmark move that aligns with India’s national manufacturing mission, TRUMPF, the global leader in industrial machine tools and laser technology, inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India today at Nighoje, Pune. The new facility marks a significant milestone in TRUMPF’s strategic expansion and is set to play a key role in accelerating smart manufacturing adoption across the Indian subcontinent.
The grand inauguration ceremony was graced by senior leadership from both TRUMPF Germany and India, including Stephan Mayer, CEO Machine Tools and Member of the Management Board, TRUMPF Germany; Till Kueppers, COO Machine Tools, TRUMPF Germany; Pradeep Patil, Managing Director of TRUMPF India; and Mohammed Hidayath, Director – Sales, TRUMPF India. Speaking at the event, Mr Mayer emphasised TRUMPF’s long-term commitment to the Indian market, noting, “This new manufacturing unit in Pune is an investment in India’s future as a global manufacturing hub.”

The Pune facility will initially produce the TruBend 1000 series bending machines, designed to deliver performance and efficiency at a competitive price point. By 2025, TRUMPF also plans to localise production of the TruLaser 1000 series, which combines German precision with affordability, making it ideal for India’s fast-evolving manufacturing sector. With this strategic localisation, TRUMPF aims to enhance supply chain responsiveness, reduce lead times, and offer advanced sheet metal processing solutions tailored to Indian industry needs.
TRUMPF’s leadership believes this manufacturing move is pivotal in supporting the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, a national program that encourages global companies to manufacture locally and contribute to India’s economic self-reliance.

Reflecting on TRUMPF India’s journey, Pradeep Patil, Managing Director of TRUMPF India, expressed deep gratitude toward customers and partners who made the company’s manufacturing milestone possible. “This milestone would not have been possible without the complete faith and trust our customers have placed in TRUMPF. Your encouragement and support have been the true catalyst behind this achievement,” he stated during the inauguration ceremony.
Mr Patil highlighted that since TRUMPF began operations in India in 2006, the company has steadily expanded its local presence, now boasting two fully functional Experience Centres in Pune and Bengaluru, a dedicated Laser Application Lab, and four warehouses supporting nationwide delivery. Backed by a 23-member strong support team, TRUMPF India currently handles over 15,000 shipments annually, serving more than 700 customers across the country.
He added that with the new manufacturing facility now operational, TRUMPF is not only scaling its production but also strengthening its ecosystem. “By 2025, all operations at the new plant—including assembly, testing, quality assurance, and logistics- will be fully functional. This is a proud moment for our entire India team as we take the next step in becoming a true local manufacturing partner to Indian industry,” Mr Patil concluded.
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of over a dozen distinguished industry leaders and dignitaries. Among them were Mohini Kelkar, Vice President of IMTMA; Rajesh Nath, Managing Director of VDMA India; Kalpesh Saraf, Regional Director of IGCC, Swamy Magod, Managing Director of Magod Group of Companies, Atin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director Auto Mech (India) Pvt. TRUMPF India’s Nighoje site also houses its head office and showroom, and the new manufacturing line further elevates this location as a comprehensive hub for sales, application engineering, service, and now, production. This expansion is complemented by TRUMPF’s growing presence in other Indian cities, including a new showroom planned in Bengaluru and a software R&D centre in Chennai.
Globally, TRUMPF was founded in 1923 in Germany and today operates as a technology powerhouse with a portfolio spanning machine tools for flexible sheet metal processing, laser systems for cutting, welding, and additive manufacturing, and Industry 4.0-ready software solutions.
