Trontek Electronics, an Indian energy technology company, plans to expand its battery energy storage systems (BESS) business with a Made-in-India product portfolio for residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), industrial campus and utility-scale applications. The company is targeting annual BESS manufacturing capacity of 12 GWh by 2028.

The expansion builds on Trontek’s more than two decades of experience in battery technology, electric mobility, charging infrastructure and energy solutions. The company aims to extend its capabilities from battery-powered applications to large-scale energy storage as India increases its use of renewable energy and electrification.

Trontek’s BESS portfolio will cover storage capacities ranging from 215 kWh to 5 MWh. The products are designed to address different energy requirements, including power management in homes and businesses, industrial electricity demand and grid-scale storage.

For residential and distributed energy applications, the company is developing modular storage solutions to support renewable energy use, energy management and power resilience. Its 215 kWh-class systems are intended for commercial and industrial customers, including hotels, offices and small and medium-sized manufacturing units. These systems can help businesses manage electricity demand, optimise energy consumption and improve power reliability.

For larger facilities, Trontek is offering 418 kWh-class systems designed for factories, warehouses, hospitals and industrial campuses. At the utility and grid scale, its containerised systems of up to 5 MWh are intended for industrial parks, utilities and large solar-plus-storage projects.

Samrath S Kochar, Founder and CEO of Trontek, said energy storage would play an important role as mobility, homes, industry and electricity networks become more interconnected. He said the company’s BESS expansion represents the next stage of its work in battery and energy technology and is aimed at developing storage capabilities in India.

The company is focusing on local engineering and manufacturing, supported by capabilities in battery systems, testing, system integration, technology development and service. Its products are being developed for India’s varied operating conditions and energy requirements.

Trontek is already engaging with customers across residential, C&I, industrial and utility-scale applications as it builds its presence in the energy storage market. The planned 12 GWh annual manufacturing capacity by 2028 is part of the company’s longer-term strategy to expand beyond its existing battery and mobility businesses. Through its BESS portfolio, Trontek aims to support renewable energy integration, improve flexibility in electricity supply and demand, and build domestic manufacturing capabilities for India’s growing energy storage sector.
