In the heart of the Gobi Desert in Jinta, Gansu Province, a striking transformation is underway. What was once a barren, windswept landscape is now home to rows of cutting-edge solar panels generating clean energy and revitalizing the ecosystem. At the center of this transformation is a 100MW deployment of Trinasolar’s high-efficiency Vertex series modules, supporting both sustainable electricity production and environmental rehabilitation.

Built on advanced 210mm technology, the Vertex modules deliver strong performance, high energy yields, and long-term durability. Their robust design helps reduce the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) while ensuring reliable power generation even in extreme conditions like droughts and sandstorms.

The desert site enjoys around 3,200 hours of sunlight annually, making it an ideal setting for solar energy projects. The now-operational 500MW facility produces approximately 736.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year—an output that avoids the burning of 300,000 tons of standard coal and prevents over 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The project also reduces particulate emissions by close to 4,000 tons. In addition to clean energy, the installation helps combat desertification by lowering ground temperatures, conserving moisture, and limiting wind erosion.

“This project represents much more than power generation,” said Cao Yunduan, Head of Global Branding and Marketing at Trinasolar. “It’s a powerful example of how renewable energy can contribute to environmental recovery and land restoration.”

With extensive experience delivering solar solutions for arid and harsh environments, Trinasolar has built a reputation for dependable, high-performance photovoltaic products used in projects across the globe. The Vertex product line, in particular, is designed to meet the demands of utility-scale solar farms in challenging terrains.

Trinasolar has made notable progress in its large-scale solar deployments across China. A 1.3GW solar-plus-storage facility in northwest China has been successfully connected to the grid using its high-efficiency Vertex N modules. In Guizhou Province, a 67.5MW agrivoltaic project has recently become operational, powered by Vertex N 720W series panels.

Additionally, a significant 1GW solar-storage project is currently underway in northwestern China, with 210MW of Vertex N 720W modules being installed and expected to be grid-connected by the end of the year. As part of its ongoing efforts to accelerate the transition to renewable energy, Trinasolar continues to invest in innovation across solar and energy storage technologies. The company remains dedicated to supplying efficient, dependable products that support the world’s shift toward a carbon-neutral future.
