Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced the “Toyota Youth Connect” program, a three-week initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands. This initiative, covering all 30 districts of Karnataka, engaged over 7,700 students in partnership with more than 70 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to explore career prospects in the automotive sector.
The program emphasized the importance of skill development, workplace adaptability, and apprenticeship opportunities, equipping participants with knowledge and practical insights to meet industry expectations. TKM highlighted the program’s role in preparing a workforce that aligns with the evolving needs of modern industries.
Through this effort, Toyota aims to enhance Karnataka’s skill development ecosystem and support national initiatives such as “Skill India” and “Make in India.” The initiative seeks to empower young talent with hands-on learning opportunities, fostering a stronger connection between education and practical application.
G. Shankara, Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration at TKM, stated, “The Toyota Youth Connect program represents our commitment to empowering India’s youth with essential skills for success in the technical field. By reaching out to rural areas, we hope to build a self-reliant and skilled workforce.” He also emphasized the program’s goal of inspiring confidence, encouraging learning, and offering guidance on career paths in technical domains.
Participants provided positive feedback, acknowledging a better understanding of career planning and apprenticeship opportunities. Building on the program’s success, TKM plans to enhance ITI training modules, identify improvement areas, and strengthen its CSR initiatives to support the skilling ecosystem further.
Toyota Kirloskar has also been actively involved in other educational projects, such as the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP), offering high-quality training to students from underprivileged backgrounds. These initiatives reflect TKM’s ongoing commitment to building a skilled workforce to support India’s growing industrial and automotive sectors.
