Toyota Kirloskar Motor Signs MoU with Government Tool Room & Training Centre to Enhance Skill Development in Karnataka

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed an agreement with the Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC) to strengthen skill-building efforts in Karnataka. Starting January 2025, the partnership will focus on upgrading training standards at GTTC facilities and Multi-Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) by incorporating industry-focused methods, faculty development programs, and updated training resources.

Building on its past work of improving 16 GTTC centers, TKM plans to extend its support to 16 more, modeled after GTTC’s Magadi campus, which serves as a flagship industrial training hub. The collaboration also includes modernizing the MSDC in Mysuru to meet evolving industry demands through advanced programs.

As part of the initiative, GTTC trainers will undergo hands-on training at TKM’s Bidadi facilities, learning processes such as the Toyota Production System. TKM will also contribute custom training modules and foster an industry-oriented culture at GTTC centers. Additionally, the partnership incorporates sustainability practices, including training faculty in the Dr. Miyawaki afforestation method.

Dr Dinesh Kumar Y. K., Managing Director of GTTC, emphasized the program’s potential to equip students with skills that align with industry needs. Sudeep S. Dalvi, TKM’s Chief Communication Officer, highlighted the company’s commitment to creating a highly skilled workforce and advancing socio-economic growth.

The agreement will run for 24 months, with regular evaluations to track progress. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements, significantly benefiting Karnataka’s workforce and economy.
