Toyota Kirloskar Motor Expands Road Safety Commitment with Successful Conclusion of Toyota Safety Education Programme in Delhi

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has successfully concluded its flagship initiative, the Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP), themed “Road Safety – My Right, My Responsibility,” at KV No. 2 Cantonment, Dr. Sarvapalli Auditorium, Delhi. The event was attended by Chief Guest Rajnesh Singh, Director, Ministry of Heavy Industries, along with Guest of Honour S.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), and TKM’s senior leadership, including Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs and Governance.

The programme is designed to raise awareness among young road users and empower them to become ambassadors of road safety within their communities. This is part of TKM’s broader mission to eliminate road fatalities by educating future generations on safer road practices.

Following the successful launch in Bangalore, TSEP’s expansion continues with additional sessions in Bangalore on February 8th and Mumbai on February 11th. The programme is expected to reach over 70,000 students and 600 teachers in 140 schools across India by 2025, demonstrating TKM’s ongoing dedication to national road safety education.

A highlight of the Delhi event was the active participation of students in various creative activities, including poster-making, skits, songs, Mad Ads, and video presentations. These engaging sessions provided a platform for students to propose innovative solutions for promoting road safety. The event also featured an awards ceremony to recognize the efforts of outstanding participants.

The impact of the programme was evident, with participant awareness increasing from 39% to 60%, highlighting TSEP’s effectiveness in educating students on road safety. Each participating school also established Road Safety Clubs led by teachers, ensuring ongoing engagement and peer-to-peer learning within the school community.

TKM’s “Real World Safety” approach integrates safe vehicle production, user education, and improvements in traffic environments to tackle India’s road safety challenges. Since its inception in 2007, TSEP has reached over 800,000 students nationwide, promoting the “Child to Community” model to empower students to advocate for road safety in their families and communities.

This structured approach helps foster lifelong commitments to road safety. The programme also provides teachers with road safety training, ensuring that educators can effectively guide students and integrate road safety education into school curricula.

Chief Guest Rajnesh Singh, Director at the Ministry of Heavy Industries, praised the initiative, stating, “Road safety is a critical concern in India, and it’s essential to address it through impactful educational programs. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Safety Education Programme is a valuable step towards shaping responsible road users. By instilling the right knowledge and behaviors in young people, we contribute to safer roads across the nation.”

S.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), also commended TSEP, saying, “Ensuring road safety requires collective responsibility, and education is key to shaping responsible road users. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s initiative empowers students to be advocates for road safety, extending its influence beyond schools into communities. This program is making a significant impact in creating safer roads.”

Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President at TKM, expressed, “At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, safety is not just a priority but a core value. Through the Toyota Safety Education Programme, we are working to nurture responsible road behavior among the youth, ensuring a long-term impact on building safer communities. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed today show that education is key to creating meaningful change, and by educating the youth, we are helping build a safer tomorrow.”

TKM extends gratitude to all partner schools, teachers, and students for their support and creative contributions, which have helped amplify the program’s reach. Since 2001, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been committed to community development through initiatives in Education, Environment, Road Safety, Skill Development, Health, Hygiene, and Disaster Management, positively impacting over 2.3 million lives and reinforcing its commitment to creating safer, healthier, and empowered communities across India.
