Toyota Kirloskar Motor Successfully Concludes Women’s Day Celebrations Strengthening Commitment to Women Empowerment and Inclusivity

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recently wrapped up its Women’s Day celebrations for 2025, emphasizing its ongoing dedication to women’s empowerment and increasing female representation within the automotive sector. The events, held on March 12 and March 16 at TKM’s manufacturing plant in Bidadi, saw the active involvement of over 700 women employees, highlighting the company’s focus on creating an inclusive and motivating work environment. These events were a part of TKM’s continued efforts to foster talent and promote work-life balance among its women employees.

On March 12, more than 250 women from various shifts gathered for a special session focused on the theme of “Work-Life Balance.” Senior women leaders from within the company shared their personal experiences, offering insights and practical advice to help employees better balance their professional and personal lives. Fun quizzes and interactive activities added to the lively atmosphere, promoting collaboration among participants.

On March 16, the Women’s Day celebrations reached new heights with more than 450 women employees attending a larger event. The chief guest, Smt R. Latha (IAS), Secretary of the Karnataka State Commission for Women & Director of the Directorate of Child Protection, delivered an inspiring speech about her career journey, transitioning from a role at the State Bank of India to becoming an accomplished IAS officer. Her message encouraged attendees to pursue ambitious career goals and break free from conventional career stereotypes.

In her address, Smt R. Latha emphasized, “Empowering women is about more than just providing opportunities—it’s about fostering confidence and inspiring them to aim higher. I’m thrilled to see Toyota Kirloskar Motor setting an example by creating an inclusive culture, which not only empowers women professionally but also makes a positive impact on society.”

The event also celebrated TKM’s diverse cultural heritage, featuring performances by women employees, including singing, dancing, and Yakshagana—a traditional theatre form from coastal Karnataka. These performances showcased TKM’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural exchange within the company.

G Shankara, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration at TKM, commented on the successful conclusion of the celebrations, stating, “At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we deeply value the contributions of our women employees. The participation we’ve seen in both events highlights our growing gender diversity, inspiring us to achieve our goal of 30% female representation by 2030. Our women-friendly workplace infrastructure, policies for re-hiring women returning from career breaks, remote working options, and our progressive sabbatical policy reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.”

The celebrations also reflect TKM’s larger initiatives, such as the construction of its advanced P3 plant, which will feature facilities designed to support up to 30% women employees. These efforts aim to attract, retain, and empower women in automotive manufacturing, positioning TKM as a leading employer in the industry.

With these celebrations and ongoing policies, Toyota Kirloskar Motor reinforces its commitment to women’s empowerment, setting a benchmark for gender diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the automotive manufacturing sector.
