TotalEnergies has entered into a long-term renewable electricity agreement with Google, signing a 21-year Power Purchase Agreement to supply certified solar power for Google’s data center operations in Malaysia. Under the agreement, Google will receive a total of 1 terawatt-hour of renewable electricity, corresponding to an installed capacity of around 20 megawatts, from the Citra Energies solar project located in the northern state of Kedah.
The solar facility is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026 and will play a key role in meeting the growing energy needs of Google’s digital infrastructure in the country. The project was awarded in August 2023 by Malaysia’s Energy Commission to a joint venture between TotalEnergies, which holds a 49 percent stake, and its local partner MK Land, which owns the remaining 51 percent. The award was made under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme, an initiative designed to accelerate private-sector investment in renewable electricity generation.
This agreement aligns with Google’s broader approach to supporting the development of new clean energy capacity in the regions where it operates. It also builds on an earlier power purchase agreement announced by TotalEnergies in November, under which the company will supply renewable electricity to Google’s data centers in the United States.
Commenting on the announcement, Giorgio Fortunato, Head of Clean Energy and Power for Asia Pacific at Google, said the collaboration reflects Google’s commitment to investing in clean energy projects that contribute to local electricity systems. He noted that enabling new renewable capacity supports both sustainable operations and the broader development of the energy infrastructure that hosts Google’s facilities.
Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President for Flexible Power and Integration at TotalEnergies, said the company is pleased to deepen its relationship with Google through the Malaysian project. She added that the agreement highlights TotalEnergies’ ability to deliver competitive and customized power solutions for large technology companies, not only in established markets such as Europe and the United States, but also in fast-growing economies like Malaysia. The project also contributes to the company’s objective of achieving a 12 percent return in its power generation and supply business. The power purchase agreement will come into force once the project reaches financial close, which is expected during the first quarter of 2026.
The agreement with Google adds to a growing list of tailored renewable power contracts developed by TotalEnergies for major industrial and technology customers. The company has previously signed similar arrangements with organizations including Data4, STMicroelectronics, Saint-Gobain, Air Liquide, Amazon, LyondellBasell, Merck, Microsoft, Orange and Sasol, demonstrating its capability to support customer decarbonization strategies by drawing on a diversified portfolio of energy assets.
In the electricity sector, TotalEnergies is building a balanced portfolio that combines renewable generation—such as solar, onshore wind and offshore wind—with flexible assets including combined-cycle gas turbines and energy storage. This approach allows the company to provide reliable, low-carbon electricity to its customers. As of the end of October 2025, TotalEnergies had more than 32 gigawatts of gross installed renewable generation capacity worldwide and is targeting 35 gigawatts by the end of 2025. By 2030, the company aims to exceed 100 terawatt-hours of net electricity production.
TotalEnergies is a global integrated energy company active across the full energy value chain, including oil and biofuels, natural gas and biogas, low-carbon hydrogen, renewables and electricity. With a workforce of more than 100,000 employees and operations in around 120 countries, the company places sustainability at the center of its strategy, projects and day-to-day activities, with the objective of delivering energy that is reliable, affordable and increasingly low carbon.
