Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has unveiled its new photorelays, the “TLP3414S” and “TLP3431S,” both housed in the compact S-VSON4T package. These new photorelays deliver faster turn-on times compared to Toshiba’s previous models, helping shorten test durations for semiconductor testers. The TLP3414S offers an OFF-state voltage of 40V and an ON-state current of 250mA, while the TLP3431S features an OFF-state voltage of 20V and an ON-state current of 450mA. Shipments begin today.

The new devices achieve high-efficiency optical coupling by enhancing the optical output from the infrared-emitting diodes and optimizing the photodiode array detectors. This results in a significantly faster turn-on time of up to 150μs. The TLP3414S has a turn-on time that’s roughly 50% shorter than the previous TLP3414, and the TLP3431S is about 62% faster than the TLP3431.

The photorelays maintain equivalent ON-state resistance and output capacitance as previous Toshiba models. The TLP3414S has a maximum resistance of 3Ω, while the TLP3431S has a maximum resistance of 1.2Ω. Both models feature a typical output capacitance of 6.5pF, ensuring stable signal transmission without significant signal loss or leakage.

These new photorelays are ideal for pin electronics applications in semiconductor testers, where high-speed and high-accuracy switching is required. The small S-VSON4T package reduces the mounting area by approximately 20% compared to the VSON4 package of Toshiba’s earlier products, supporting the trend toward more compact semiconductor tester designs. Toshiba remains committed to providing high-performance solutions that meet the growing demands for speed and precision in semiconductor testing.
