TKIL Industries Partners with CME Pune to Deploy Green Hydrogen Microgrid

TKIL Industries Pvt. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune, to install a Green Hydrogen Microgrid System integrated with fuel cell energy storage at the institute’s campus. The project is aimed at demonstrating the potential of decentralized, sustainable and resilient energy systems for off-grid applications while supporting research and development in emerging clean energy technologies.

The project will incorporate advanced hydrogen technology developed by Switzerland-based SoHHytec SA and will combine renewable energy generation, green hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and fuel cell-based power generation within a single microgrid. The integrated system is expected to provide a reliable and self-sustaining energy solution while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

The collaboration reflects TKIL Industries’ long-term strategy of supporting India’s clean energy transition through innovative technologies and partnerships with defence and academic institutions. The initiative is also aligned with the country’s focus on strengthening energy security, promoting alternative fuels and advancing the objectives of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Commenting on the partnership, Vivek Bhatia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TKIL Industries Pvt. Ltd., said the project represents a significant milestone in developing future-ready energy infrastructure for remote and off-grid environments. He noted that as energy security and decarbonisation become increasingly important worldwide, green hydrogen is emerging as a critical component of resilient, low-carbon energy systems. By integrating SoHHytec’s advanced hydrogen technology, the project aims to demonstrate the practical application of next-generation hydrogen solutions in critical infrastructure.

Suresh Agasthi, Head – Green Hydrogen at TKIL Industries, said the collaboration reinforces the company’s commitment to expanding clean energy solutions across industrial and off-grid applications. He added that the project brings together renewable energy, hydrogen production, fuel cell storage and microgrid integration to showcase how decentralized energy systems can support sustainable infrastructure while accelerating India’s adoption of alternative fuels.

Under the agreement, TKIL Industries will oversee the installation of the complete hydrogen microgrid system at the CME campus. The facility will serve as a live demonstration site and research platform, allowing faculty, researchers and defence personnel to evaluate the performance and feasibility of hydrogen-powered energy systems under real operating conditions.

A spokesperson from the College of Military Engineering said the installation will provide an important platform for conducting applied research on hydrogen technologies and microgrid applications while helping prepare future engineers to work with advanced clean energy systems relevant to defence infrastructure.

The project is expected to demonstrate the efficiency, scalability and commercial viability of solar-driven hydrogen energy solutions. It also strengthens collaboration between industry and defence institutions in advancing sustainable technologies, building indigenous capabilities and creating resilient energy infrastructure for the future.
