Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. has announced its entry into two new business sectors, expanding beyond its core railway operations. This was revealed following the company’s board meeting on February 3. The company will now explore the “Shipbuilding and Maritime Systems” sector, which includes activities like shipbuilding, ship repairs, and related services.

The shipbuilding industry is traditionally led by state-owned entities such as Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Cochin Shipyard, and Garden Reach Shipbuilders. In addition, Titagarh plans to expand into the “Signaling and Safety Systems” business, focusing on railway signaling, safety systems, and technologies for train control and condition monitoring. This new division will concentrate on enhancing railway operations through the development and installation of products that ensure the smooth and safe running of trains.

Saket Kandoi, Director of Freight Rolling Stock at Titagarh, has been appointed to oversee the company’s maritime operations.
