To meet the rising global demand for high-purity graphite in sectors like semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, and solar power, Korea’s Thermvac Inc. has significantly expanded its portfolio of ultra-high temperature furnaces, including advanced ceramic CVD, carbon purification, and graphitization furnaces. The company has ramped up delivery and development for both domestic and international markets, becoming a major supplier in this specialized field.
Among recent milestones, Thermvac has delivered large-scale SiC and B4C CVD equipment to J Company in Hubei Province and A Research Institute in Beijing, China, as well as to K Research Institute in Korea. Additional TaC CVD equipment deliveries have been made to T Company in Korea and S Company in Shanxi, China, with ongoing projects in Taiwan and Japan.
In the carbon purification segment, Thermvac supplied horizontal mass production equipment to K Company and K Research Institute in Korea, and vertical mass production equipment to S Company in Jiangsu, China. The company is also actively pursuing supply agreements with clients in France and Taiwan, along with a growing volume of inquiries from Sweden, Japan, and India.
To support this international expansion, Thermvac has undertaken two critical investments in 2024. First, a new factory and testing facility near its existing operations in Korea will house ceramic CVDs, carbon purification furnaces, and high-temperature powder continuous production furnaces.
The facility is expected to boost Thermvac’s R&D capabilities while offering clients equipment rental for process tests and sample production. This setup will allow Thermvac to refine its equipment’s durability and maintenance efficiency—key factors given the extreme environments in which the equipment operates.
By late 2024, Thermvac’s test facility will produce TaC CVD samples with a diameter under 400mm and handle carbon purification of up to 300kg per batch. By 2025, the facility will expand capacity for SiC/B4C/PyC sample production with diameters up to 600mm and carbon purification up to 500kg per batch, alongside continuous high-temperature powder production at 30L/hr.
In a further expansion step, Thermvac inaugurated a vacuum furnace manufacturing plant in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, China, on July 1, 2024, which will focus on producing carbon purification furnaces, graphitization furnaces, and hot press equipment for the Chinese market. This local manufacturing hub is set to reduce logistics costs and shorten delivery times, providing a competitive edge in an industry with rapidly evolving demands.
