Milrem Robotics, a leading global developer of robotics and autonomous systems, along with EM&E Group, a key defence technology provider, and Thales Belgium, a subsidiary of the global tech leader in defence, aerospace, and cyber, have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate commercially in the United Arab Emirates.
This MoU sets the stage for joint innovation and integration of robotics capabilities, focusing on enhancing Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS modular unmanned ground vehicle. One major project under this partnership involves combining EM&E Group’s SECUTOR Remote Weapon Station with Thales Belgium’s 70mm rocket systems to elevate the vehicle’s operational effectiveness, particularly in counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) operations.
The resulting system will be showcased by the EDGE Group at IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi, from February 17-21. The agreement also paves the way for future joint development projects that will leverage the combined expertise of all three companies to create advanced defence solutions.
Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics, expressed the shared vision of leveraging technological strengths to meet the growing demand for robotic systems in defence. “Through this partnership, we aim to foster innovation, enhance regional security, and support the UAE’s technological and defence capabilities,” he said.
Alain Quevrin, CEO of Thales Belgium, emphasized the importance of the partnership, saying, “This collaboration reflects our commitment to addressing evolving defence needs and advancing security, aligned with the UAE’s vision for innovation.”
Javier Escribano, President of EM&E Group, also highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “This strategic project will bring together cutting-edge technologies, answering the dynamic needs of the defence sector.”
