Thales, a global leader in technology and security, has introduced OneWelcome FIDO Key Lifecycle Management, a new solution designed to help large organizations manage and deploy FIDO security passkeys at scale. This innovation reflects Thales’s ongoing commitment to providing seamless and secure passwordless authentication for its customers.
The OneWelcome FIDO Key Lifecycle Management solution combines Thales’ interoperable management platform with its hardware FIDO security keys (passkeys), tailored for large-scale enterprise use. It enables Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to simplify and secure the management of FIDO keys throughout their lifecycle, helping them accelerate their passwordless transformation.
Danny de Vreeze, Vice President of Identity & Access Management at Thales, stated, “Authentication is at the heart of identity security, and we are focused on supporting organizations as they transition to passwordless authentication. This solution removes barriers to adoption and enables IT teams to manage FIDO keys easily, beyond just enrollment.”
FIDO security keys are recognized as the best defense against phishing attacks, yet traditional registration and lifecycle management processes can cause delays and frustration for users. The OneWelcome solution eliminates these challenges by allowing IT teams to pre-register keys and manage them securely, from enrollment to revocation, improving user productivity and speeding up the deployment of passwordless authentication.
Andrew Shikiar, Executive Director and CEO of The FIDO Alliance, added, “Thales’ solution supports the FIDO Alliance’s mission to reduce reliance on passwords through simpler and stronger authentication methods. Thales’ device-bound passkey management with full lifecycle management enhances FIDO standards’ deployment.”
The platform integrates with Microsoft Entra ID via FIDO2 provisioning APIs, allowing organizations to pre-register Thales FIDO keys for end users. This integration makes it easy for companies using Microsoft 365 to implement secure and seamless authentication from day one. Thales was also recognized as an “Identity Trailblazer” in the 2024 Microsoft Security Excellence Awards for its innovative IAM solutions.
Natee Pretikul, Principal Product Management Lead at Microsoft Security, commented, “Through FIDO2 provisioning APIs and our ongoing partnership with Thales, we are helping organizations deploy phishing-resistant authentication at scale.” The FIDO Alliance aims to reduce the global reliance on passwords by promoting strong authentication standards.
