Thales has introduced a certified eSIM solution based on the latest SGP.32 specification—developed specifically for the Internet of Things—which simplifies remote connectivity and enhances trust in large-scale IoT deployments. The GSMA’s SGP.32 standard allows devices such as smartwatches, asset trackers, and medical wearables to independently download and activate mobile subscriptions without the need for a physical SIM card or pairing with a smartphone. In addition to simplifying deployment, it strengthens protection by ensuring secure transmission of credentials and connectivity during remote activation.

Thales’ eSIM solution has received the GSMA eSA (eSIM Security Assurance) certification, which validates the hardware, software, and cryptographic components against strict global requirements. This achievement provides a recognized assurance of trust for mobile network operators, device manufacturers, carmakers, and IoT service providers.

The certified eSIM solution streamlines large-scale deployment of IoT devices by enabling remote provisioning, significantly cutting down on manual handling and reducing operational complexities. This approach improves efficiency for organizations managing widespread networks of eSIM-enabled devices.

In addition to operational gains, the solution ensures robust data protection through end-to-end security of connectivity credentials across the device’s lifecycle. It also builds trust by securing device identity and communications—crucial for sensitive applications such as smart utilities, healthcare, industrial monitoring, surveillance systems, and automotive technologies.

“In today’s rapidly evolving IoT landscape, simplicity and trust are essential,” said Eva Rudin, Vice President, Mobile Connectivity Solutions at Thales. “This certification is a major step forward in enabling the scalable rollout of secure, eSIM-ready devices across multiple sectors. With many active deployments underway in the industrial and automotive space, we anticipate wider adoption among more than 100 of our partners globally.”
