Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, a leading manufacturer of railway rolling stock, has announced the receipt of an order valued at ₹140 crore from the Ministry of Railways. The contract entails the supply of eight rakes of wagons, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance India’s freight transportation infrastructure.
The scope of this order includes the supply of eight rakes of wagons, which are to be delivered within the next six months. This development aligns with the government’s ongoing initiatives to boost railway infrastructure and enhance freight capacity across the country.
Earlier this year, in February, Texmaco Rail entered into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Polish technology firm Nevomo. The agreement aims to collaborate on the development of next-generation Magrail technology, including linear propulsion systems and AI-powered railway innovations. This initiative underscores Texmaco’s focus on leveraging advanced technologies to stay at the forefront of the railway engineering sector.
Despite the positive momentum in its order book, Texmaco Rail experienced a 12% decline in its net profit during the March quarter, reporting ₹40 crore compared to ₹45 crore in the same period last year. The dip in profitability comes amidst a broader context of investment in innovation and partnerships, which are expected to yield long-term benefits.
On a more encouraging note, the company reported strong revenue growth, with its topline rising by 17.5% year-on-year to ₹1,346.4 crore. Additionally, its Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) grew by 14.7% year-on-year to ₹97.6 crore. These figures reflect robust operational performance and resilience in a dynamic market environment.
This order underscores Texmaco’s commitment to supporting the Indian Railways’ ambitious goals, including the “Mission 3000 MT,” which aims to double freight capacity to 3,000 million tonnes by 2027. The addition of these wagons is expected to bolster the efficiency and capacity of the national freight network.
Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd is a prominent player in the Indian railway manufacturing sector, specializing in the design, manufacture, and supply of a wide range of railway rolling stock, including wagons, coaches, and locomotives. With a legacy of excellence and innovation, Texmaco continues to contribute significantly to the modernization and expansion of India’s railway infrastructure.
