Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) , a leading global IT services, consulting, and business solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate the development of India’s sovereign cloud infrastructure. The partnership is aimed at delivering secure, scalable, and AI-enabled sovereign cloud platforms that comply with India’s data localization mandates while supporting the digital transformation of critical public sector services. The collaboration will also integrate indigenous innovations into TCS’ sovereign cloud stack, ensuring secure hosting for government applications such as e-Sanjeevani, Dial 112, and mission-critical workloads from central ministries.
Magesh Ethirajan, Director General, C-DAC, said “We are proud to collaborate with TCS in advancing sovereign cloud technologies aligned with India’s digital priorities. By combining C-DAC’s indigenous innovation capabilities with TCS’ industry expertise, we aim to accelerate deployment and long-term sustainability of sovereign cloud platforms, reducing dependence on global hyperscalers.”
The sovereign cloud initiative is designed to strengthen data protection, compliance, and performance across strategic sectors including healthcare, defence, smart cities, and BFSI. It will also promote the adoption of OpenStack and indigenous technologies, positioning sovereign cloud as the foundation for India’s future-ready digital infrastructure.
Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS, said “This MoU marks an important step in realizing India’s sovereign cloud ambitions. By joining forces with C-DAC, we bring together indigenous research, public sector infrastructure, and enterprise-scale expertise to deliver cloud platforms tailored for a digitally empowered India.”
