Taural India, one of the country’s leading integrated aluminium foundries, has completed the supply of high-precision aluminium castings to Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd (TEIL) for the manufacture of propulsion gearboxes used in an Indigenous Patrol Vessels Programme. Co-developed by TEIL and Taural India, the castings played a key role in the successful delivery of the gearbox systems, marking an important milestone in India’s efforts to build self-reliance in marine propulsion technologies.
Taural India produced and delivered sixteen complete sets of castings within a span of five months. Drawing on its expertise in advanced aluminium sand-casting, the company refined component geometries, reduced weight and ensured structurally robust, defect-free castings with complex internal cavities tailored to meet the demanding strength and performance requirements of marine environments. The successful execution of the project further strengthens the position of both companies as significant contributors to India’s growing marine manufacturing ecosystem.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Bharat Gite, Managing Director and CEO of Taural India, said, “This collaboration is a moment of immense pride for Taural India, as it showcases our ability to deliver precision-engineered, indigenous solutions for India’s maritime sector. We are deeply grateful to Triveni for placing their trust in us and partnering on this critical development of technology. Our focus has always been on achieving global precision through local engineering, and this project reaffirms that India’s manufacturing ecosystem is capable of creating world-class outcomes.”
Rajiv Rajpal, CEO of the Power Transmission business at Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd, added, “The successful indigenisation of the light-weight propulsion gearboxes marks a significant step in strengthening our contribution to India’s maritime self-reliance. We chose Taural India for their proven expertise in high-precision aluminium sand casting and their ability to deliver large, intricate components that meet the stringent performance standards of marine applications. Their technical capability and adherence to demanding timelines were critical to the success of this project. We are proud to contribute to the Indian maritime sector with a solution that is entirely designed and made in India.”
Taural India’s capabilities are reinforced by multiple global certifications, including accreditation from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), AS9100D:2015 aerospace quality certification from TÜV SÜD AMERICA INC., and the ASME U Stamp for pressure vessel manufacturing. TEIL’s role in the project further solidifies its standing as a trusted partner in India’s marine and industrial engineering landscape. Together, the companies highlight the expanding strengths of India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, demonstrating how collaboration between homegrown engineering leaders is driving the country’s journey toward technological self-reliance.
