Taural India has commissioned its second aluminium sand casting manufacturing facility in India, located in Supa, Maharashtra, following the successful operation of its Pune plant. The new facility was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, marking an important step in strengthening advanced aluminium manufacturing capacity in the state.
Built across 30 acres, the Supa plant significantly increases Taural India’s production capability and enhances its ability to serve customers in India and overseas. The facility has been developed to meet international engineering, quality, and sustainability standards, with automation, digital process monitoring, and advanced quality systems supporting the production of complex, precision aluminium components. These components cater to sectors including defence, mobility, energy, aerospace, marine, railways, and industrial infrastructure.
The Supa facility is also expected to deliver substantial economic benefits to the region. As operations expand, the plant is projected to create more than 1,200 direct jobs, along with additional employment across allied services such as logistics, maintenance, and local supply chains. The project supports industrial growth in Tier II and Tier III regions, helping generate skilled employment opportunities closer to home and easing migration pressure on major cities.
The investment followed a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2025 and progressed from announcement to operational status within a year. The timeline highlights Maharashtra’s growing reputation as a state where large-scale manufacturing investments translate into execution on the ground.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Taural India’s growth reflects the strength of Indian entrepreneurship and its ability to build globally competitive manufacturing businesses. Facilities like Supa contribute to balanced regional development and support Maharashtra’s long-term economic objectives.”
Bharat Gite, Founder and CEO of Taural India, said, “The Supa facility marks an important milestone in our expansion journey. It enhances domestic aluminium casting capability, creates skilled employment in regional markets, and demonstrates that Indian companies can scale high-precision manufacturing while remaining closely connected to local communities.”
Lothar Thoni, Joint Venture Partner at Taural India and Owner of Thoni Alutec, added, “India is playing an increasingly important role in global manufacturing. Projects like Supa show how global engineering practices combined with strong local execution can create reliable, scalable manufacturing platforms for international customers.”
The Supa facility strengthens Maharashtra’s position as a competitive manufacturing destination and aligns with India’s broader ambition to expand its role in global supply chains. As demand rises worldwide for lightweight, efficient, and recyclable materials such as aluminium, investments in advanced manufacturing infrastructure will continue to be key drivers of industrial growth, exports, and employment.
Taural India is a joint venture with the Thoni Alutec Group and operates an integrated aluminium foundry in Pune. The company supplies aluminium casting solutions to industries including railways, defence, marine, aerospace, energy, healthcare, and robotics, and employs over 900 people. Taural India supports the “Make in India” initiative and serves customers such as Ordnance Factory, Indian Railways, ABB, General Electric, Siemens, and Hyosung.
