Tata Power’s Jojobera Thermal Power Station is creating new learning pathways for students in and around Jojobera by introducing science and technology education through its Club Enerji STEM programme. Designed to reach young minds in smaller towns and villages, the initiative is bridging the gap between textbooks and real-world applications.

What began with just one school and a few students has now grown to include 20 schools and more than 4,000 students in the region. These schools now host well-equipped STEM labs and have trained educators who simplify complex topics like sustainability, energy efficiency, and robotics. The programme focuses on making learning hands-on, interactive, and inspiring.

Students engage directly with science, engineering, and technology by building models, conducting experiments, and applying what they learn. Plans are underway to include regular visits to the power plant as part of the academic calendar—offering students a rare opportunity to see large-scale energy operations up close and understand their classroom lessons in a new light.

The impact of this initiative is already visible. Students participating in the programme recently earned top honors at a national STEM event held in Bengaluru. These achievements highlight how access to the right tools and support can unlock talent, even in less privileged areas. Many of the students now dream of becoming scientists, engineers, and researchers—goals they are actively working towards with help from this platform.

To keep pace with evolving interests and technologies, the curriculum is also expanding. Robotics has been introduced, and a special Club Enerji Bootcamp is in development for higher secondary students. This bootcamp will offer advanced sessions in robotics, electronics, and clean energy solutions. The programme will also include field trips to renewable energy sites, technology museums, and innovation hubs to deepen student exposure.

Tata Power is also forming a volunteer group, called Enerji Mittras, to spread awareness about energy conservation and green power across local communities. Through this effort, Tata Power is not only nurturing a new generation of science enthusiasts but also empowering youth to lead change in their communities by embracing knowledge and sustainability.
