Tata Power reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,262 crore for the quarter ending June 30, marking a 6.1% increase compared to ₹1,189 crore in the same period last year. The growth was largely driven by stronger earnings from its renewable energy, transmission, and distribution businesses.

Revenue during the quarter rose to ₹17,464 crore, up from ₹16,810 crore a year earlier. “Our performance across all key areas has been strong as we begin FY26,” said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power. He highlighted that the company’s clean energy segment continues to perform well, driven by improvements in innovation, scale, and operational efficiency.

He noted that the generation and power distribution businesses are showing consistent progress. The company’s distribution arms are now serving around 13 million consumers. In particular, the Odisha distribution companies have been recognized as models for reform in the sector.

Tata Power has submitted an application to expand its distribution services in Maharashtra, aiming to increase its customer base to 40 million by 2030. Proposed areas of growth include Thane, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Pune, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.

The company’s total power generation capacity now exceeds 26 GW, including ongoing projects, with over 65% coming from renewable sources. In the first quarter, Tata Power commissioned 652 MW of new projects, comprising 94 MW from its own assets and 560 MW delivered for third parties through engineering and construction contracts.

The total operating utility-scale renewable capacity now stands at 5.6 GW—4.6 GW from solar and 1 GW from wind. An additional 1.6 GW is expected to be added over the next three quarters. Tata Power also achieved a record rooftop solar capacity addition of 270 MWp in Q1. The company has surpassed 2 lakh rooftop solar installations, with a combined capacity exceeding 3.4 GWp.

In the solar equipment segment, it sold 107 MW worth of modules and 54 MW of cells to third-party buyers during the quarter, with a total order value of ₹1,303 crore. In transmission, Tata Power is currently working on six projects totaling over 2,400 circuit kilometers (Ckm), targeting a network of 7,000 Ckm by 2027.

The company also crossed the milestone of installing 30 lakh smart meters across the country in the first quarter. Tata Power, part of the Tata Group, currently holds a total generation capacity of 15.8 GW, of which 7 GW—or 44%—comes from renewable sources.
