Tata Power, one of India’s leading integrated power companies, strengthened its commitment to inclusivity by partnering with the National Purple Fest 2025. This event, held at Amrit Udhyanin Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, was organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), to promote accessibility and empowerment for persons with disabilities (PwDs). The event was graced by the Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
Tata Power showcased its dedication to inclusivity through several initiatives, including the ‘Pay Autention – India’s First Phygital Autism Support Network’ experiential zone, and the introduction of the Dance Movement Yog therapy foundational course. The course is part of Tata Power’s efforts to leverage its Pay Autention and E-Sanidhya platforms, co-developed with Tata Elxsi, to provide integrated, accessible solutions for neurodiverse individuals and their caregivers.
A major highlight of the event was the announcement of the Phygital Dance-Movement-Yog course, co-developed in collaboration with the MSJE and Pay Autention network partners. This course integrates movement-based therapies aimed at enhancing motor skills, improving attention, regulating emotions, and building social connections. Dance & Movement Therapy (DMT) has been included in the Pay Autention initiative to provide both online and offline sessions, offering a holistic approach for neurodiverse individuals, caregivers, and other communities.
The course announcement was made by senior officials from DEPwD and NIEPID, including Dr Virendra Kumar, Hon. Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment; Rajesh Agarwal, Secretary, DePwD; and Raju Sharma, Joint Secretary, DePwD, among others. Senior leaders from Tata Power, including Himal Tewari (CHRO, Chief Sustainability and CSR), Pankaj Kumar Singh (Chief Community Impact), and Foram Nagori (Head CSR, Programme Governance), also participated in the launch.
Speaking at the event, Himal Tewari said, “We are privileged to partner with the National Purple Fest for the second consecutive year. In collaboration with MSJE and Tata Elxsi, we successfully piloted the E-Sanidhya neurodiversity support platform last year. This year, we are excited to co-create a hybrid Dance-Movement-Yoga therapy course with DePwD, bringing together experts in the ‘arts in health’ domain and Tata volunteers. Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to inclusivity and will continue to collaborate with government agencies and partner organizations in the area of neurodiversity and inclusion.”
The National Purple Fest 2025 attracted over 23,000 participants, including children from special schools, community members supported by Tata Power, and Tata Group volunteers from companies like Indian Hotels and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Children from Tata Power communities near Ahmednagar showcased their talents in cultural performances, further emphasizing the company’s dedication to strengthening educational initiatives for underserved communities.
The Pay Autention Experiential Zone was another key feature of the event, offering interactive exhibits designed to engage and educate visitors. This included the Adhikaar initiative of Tata Power, which provided information on government schemes for PwD empowerment, an Interactive Gaming Zone featuring a LEGO Corner by Sunday Bricks, nutrition therapy by Iyurved, and yoga therapy by SRCC. Additionally, merchandise created by AnokhaDhaaga, special youth entrepreneurs, was available for purchase.
A Sensory Room, curated in partnership with Sensory All and NIEPID, offered a Dark Room Experience that allowed visitors to participate in interactive activities simulating the challenges faced by PwDs. This immersive experience aimed to raise awareness and foster empathy for individuals with disabilities. Through its active participation in events like the National Purple Fest 2025, Tata Power continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering inclusivity, providing opportunities for PwDs to thrive and ensuring that accessibility remains a priority in all aspects of its operations.
