Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) to accelerate the shift toward electric mobility in the commercial vehicle segment. This collaboration will initially focus on supporting the rollout of VECV’s newly launched Eicher Pro X series of electric small commercial vehicles.
As part of the agreement, TPEVCSL will provide tailored charging infrastructure solutions, drawing on its extensive nationwide EV charging network and technical know-how. VECV, a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, will contribute its expertise in efficient vehicle operations and fleet solutions, ensuring electric trucks meet operational requirements across varied applications.
The partnership is designed to support fleet operators and logistics providers in seamlessly transitioning to electric vehicles. Joint efforts will center on key adoption barriers such as charging infrastructure access, range limitations, and total cost of ownership. In addition to the Eicher Pro X range, the collaboration also aims to facilitate the deployment of other electric models from Eicher’s broader vehicle portfolio.
This initiative is expected to bring integrated energy and mobility solutions to the commercial transport sector, enabling lower emissions and higher operational efficiency. By leveraging VECV’s deep industry presence and Tata Power’s rapidly expanding EV charging ecosystem, the companies aim to foster widespread adoption of electric trucks and buses.
Tata Power’s EV charging business, operating under the EZ Charge brand, has emerged as one of India’s largest and most widespread networks, with over 1.5 lakh home chargers, more than 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and upwards of 1,200 dedicated electric bus charging stations across 630+ cities and towns nationwide. These installations serve more than 4 lakh registered users, deployed strategically at highways, malls, hospitals, depots, residential communities, and commercial hubs—paving the way for reliable and accessible EV charging nationwide.
VECV, since its inception in 2008, has played a critical role in transforming India’s commercial vehicle space. The company manufactures and markets a comprehensive range of Eicher trucks and buses across 40 countries, distributes Volvo Trucks and Buses in India, and supports a global supply of engines and components for the Volvo Group. With a focus on modern, fuel-efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions, VECV has consistently led innovation in commercial transportation.
