Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power DDL) has announced a collaboration with Probus Smart Things to advance smart metering technology through the development of a universal Network Interface Card (NIC) with Bluetooth-enabled communication.
This partnership will focus on creating innovative use cases to enhance smart metering systems, with both companies planning to file joint patents to protect the intellectual property generated by their collaboration.
Gajanan S Kale, CEO of Tata Power DDL, stated, “This initiative supports our vision of providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions to our consumers.”
The Universal NIC is a game-changer in the energy sector, designed to improve communication reliability and efficiency, even in areas where primary networks are unavailable. With Bluetooth-enabled communication, the NIC allows for reliable meter data collection and facilitates functions such as reconnection and disconnection, even in challenging network conditions. It also offers seamless integration with mobile applications. The NIC is compatible with Tata Power-DDL’s existing consumer mobile apps and meter reading systems, enhancing user experience and streamlining operations.
Anand Singh, Founder & CEO of Probus Smart Things, commented, “We are excited to work with Tata Power-DDL to set a new benchmark in the smart metering industry.” Initially, the advanced NIC will be deployed in Tata Power-DDL’s operations, with plans for expansion to other utilities and regions in the future.
