Tata Power has unveiled plans to invest Rs 1.2 lakh crore in Rajasthan to develop various renewable energy initiatives, including rooftop solar installations and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This investment is part of the company’s strategy to transform Rajasthan into a power surplus state through a series of clean energy projects.
At the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Tata Power’s CEO and Managing Director, Praveer Sinha, highlighted that the company’s investment is aligned with India’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and supporting Rajasthan’s ambition to become a major clean energy hub.
The projects include renewable energy developments worth Rs 75,000 crore, covering solar, wind, and hybrid power in regions like Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur. Other key initiatives are focused on rooftop solar, transmission and distribution, and EV charging infrastructure.
The investment is expected to create 28,000 jobs and provide round-the-clock clean and affordable electricity to Rajasthan’s residents. The state, home to the country’s largest solar parks, already leads India with over 18 GW of installed solar capacity.
Tata Power, with over 1,000 MW of solar capacity and 185 MW of wind energy installations, aims to play a key role in India’s target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2047. Under its “Ghar Ghar Solar” initiative, Tata Power plans to install rooftop solar systems for 1 million households, with an estimated 50,000 installations each month.
