Tata Power, India’s largest integrated energy company, has marked a record-setting year in its rooftop solar segment. In FY25, the company reached the significant milestone of 1.5 lakh rooftop solar installations, bringing its total capacity to 3 GW across more than 700 cities. This accomplishment solidifies Tata Power’s leadership position in the sector.

Holding a commanding 13.1% market share in rooftop EPC, Tata Power’s deep national presence and execution capabilities continue to set it apart in the solar space. The rooftop solar division reported an impressive profit after tax (PAT) of ₹209 crore, with ₹100 crore of this earned in Q4FY25, reflecting strong profitability and widespread adoption.

In FY25, Tata Power delivered over 2.5 GW of renewable capacity across various sectors, including approximately 600 MW from rooftop solar projects, further solidifying its role in expanding India’s clean energy landscape. Additionally, the company has seen significant progress in utility-scale EPC, with an order book exceeding ₹4,000 crore under execution.

Tata Power is also contributing to the government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana, aiming to provide solar power to 1 crore households. The company is partnering with key state agencies such as Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), and Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur Discoms to boost residential rooftop solar adoption.

The company’s flagship program, Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang, has already been launched in cities including Jodhpur, Varanasi, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Raipur, with a robust network of over 600 channel partners and 225 authorized service providers across 400+ districts. Tata Power’s strategic collaborations with more than 20 financial institutions have also helped make solar energy more accessible by facilitating financing options for customers. To date, Tata Power has facilitated the financing of over ₹5,680 crore in solar projects.

Ensuring top-notch quality and supply chain independence, Tata Power sources the solar modules for its rooftop projects from its state-of-the-art TP Solar manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. This plant, which operates at over 90% capacity, produced 3,291 MW of solar modules and 846 MW of solar cells in FY25. The facility utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as TOPCon, Mono PERC, and bifacial designs to produce high-efficiency, DCR-compliant modules that enhance energy output and performance.

Building on its strong market momentum and institutional support, Tata Power plans to extend its rooftop solar footprint to 30 lakh households within the next three years. With its consistent profitability, operational excellence, and alignment with India’s climate goals, Tata Power’s rooftop solar initiative remains a key player in advancing energy equity and fostering a sustainable future.
