Tata Motors is expanding its footprint across more than 50 cities, including major urban centers like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi, and is set to significantly enhance its commercial vehicle charging infrastructure. This expansion will augment the current network of 540 charging points dedicated to commercial electric vehicles (EVs).
As e-commerce firms, parcel delivery services, and other sectors ramp up their adoption of electric vehicles for last-mile logistics, this increase in charging stations is poised to support their transition to greener operations.
To optimize the placement of these new fast-charging stations, Tata Motors will utilize its extensive knowledge of commercial EV usage patterns to suggest the most strategic locations and the closest dealerships for their installation. Delta Electronics will provide the necessary hardware for these stations, while Thunderplus Solutions will be responsible for their installation and ongoing operation.
Vinay Pathak, Vice President and Business Head of SCV&PU at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, emphasized that expanding charging infrastructure along high-traffic routes will incentivize more businesses to choose electric commercial vehicles.
This will not only enhance vehicle uptime but also boost revenues and profitability, all while supporting environmental sustainability. Pathak also highlighted that placing these fast chargers at Tata Motors dealerships will offer customers convenient access to reliable charging facilities at familiar locations.
Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, noting that it significantly contributes to the advancement of India’s electric cargo ecosystem. Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd, also underscored the commitment to providing top-quality charging solutions that offer both convenience and dependability for electric commercial vehicle operators.
Among Tata Motors’ notable offerings is the Ace EV, recognized as India’s most sophisticated four-wheeled electric cargo vehicle designed for last-mile deliveries.
