Tata Motors Launches Ultra EV 7M Electric Bus in India

Tata Motors has introduced the Ultra EV 7M, an electric minibus designed to offer both efficiency and performance. This model is powered by a robust 213 kW electric motor, enabling it to reach a top speed of 75 kilometers per hour. It is equipped with a substantial 200 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be fully charged in about 2.5 hours.

On a single charge, the Ultra EV 7M boasts a travel range of between 120 and 160 kilometers, making it a practical choice for various transportation needs. The Ultra EV 7M is constructed with dimensions that enhance its versatility. It measures 7,150 millimeters in length, 2,340 millimeters in width, and stands 3,200 millimeters high.

Its wheelbase is compact at 3,450 millimeters, which contributes to its maneuverability, while the high floor height of 900 millimeters ensures ample ground clearance. This electric minibus is designed with a single passenger-boarding door located at the front on the left side, which accommodates a standard passenger capacity of 20 individuals comfortably.

In terms of weight, the Ultra EV 7M has a gross vehicle weight of 9,500 kilograms, allowing it to handle a respectable grade-ability of 17%. This capability is significant for navigating various terrains. Anand S, the Vice President and Head of Tata Motors’ Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, highlighted during the Ultra EV 7M’s launch that this model represents a pioneering entry into the 7-meter-plus segment.

He emphasized that the vehicle is versatile enough for both urban mobility and staff transport applications. The Ultra EV 7M is designed with a focus on passenger comfort and driver convenience. It features air suspension at both the front and rear ends, which provides a smooth and comfortable ride for passengers.

For the driver’s ease, the minibus is equipped with a tilt and telescopic steering column, allowing for customizable driving positions. The vehicle also includes narrow overhead luggage racks to accommodate passenger belongings. Safety is a key consideration in the design of the Ultra EV 7M.

Tata Motors has incorporated advanced safety features such as an electronic braking system and electronic stability control, ensuring that the minibus performs reliably under various conditions.
