Tata Motors has commenced the first phase of deliveries of its electric prime mover, the Prima E.55S, to BillionE Mobility, marking a significant advancement in India’s transition toward zero-emission heavy-duty logistics. In addition to the initial handover, the company has secured an additional order for 250 electric trucks, reflecting strong momentum in sustainable freight transport solutions.
The deployment of the electric fleet will take place in phases across key industrial corridors, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi NCR, and Haryana. These vehicles are expected to support long-haul transportation of commodities such as steel, cement, and industrial goods, contributing to cleaner and more efficient logistics operations.
The handover ceremony was attended by senior leadership from both organizations, underscoring the collaborative effort to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the commercial vehicle segment. BillionE Mobility has outlined a structured deployment strategy aimed at scaling operations systematically over the next 6 to 18 months, with a target of introducing up to 1,500 electric trucks into active service.
The Prima E.55S is powered by a 450 kWh battery, offering one of the highest capacities in its category, and is designed to meet the demanding requirements of long-haul freight movement. The vehicle integrates advanced electric drivetrain technology, regenerative braking, and a high-performance e-axle, delivering a range of up to 350 kilometers on a single charge. Features such as dual-gun fast charging, a 3-speed automated transmission, and a comprehensive suite of safety systems ensure reliability and operational efficiency.
Built on Tata Motors’ i-MoEV architecture, the truck combines energy efficiency with durability, making it suitable for intensive duty cycles. The cabin is designed to enhance driver comfort, supporting productivity during extended operations. Safety technologies including lane departure warning, electronic braking, driver monitoring systems, and advanced driver assistance features further strengthen its performance credentials.
Tata Motors continues to expand its portfolio of alternative fuel vehicles, encompassing battery electric, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen-based technologies. Supported by an extensive service network and lifecycle solutions, the company aims to provide dependable and sustainable mobility solutions across diverse commercial applications.
BillionE Mobility, since its inception, has focused on building a technology-driven electric logistics ecosystem, integrating fleet management systems and charging infrastructure. With increasing clean energy kilometers already achieved, the company remains committed to reducing environmental impact while enabling scalable, zero-emission freight transportation across India.
