Tata Motors, one of India’s top automotive manufacturers, has reached a new milestone in FY25 by submitting 250 patent applications and 148 design filings — the highest number in a single financial year for the company. These applications span a wide range of technical and design developments tied to trends like connected vehicles, electric mobility, environmental sustainability, and enhanced safety. Innovations also include work on hydrogen-powered vehicles and fuel cell technology.
The submissions cover multiple aspects of vehicle engineering, such as battery systems, powertrains, body structures, suspension systems, braking, climate control, and emission management. Additionally, the company filed 81 copyright applications and secured 68 new patents this year, raising its total granted patents to 918.
Tata Motors’ focus on research and product development continues to reinforce its role in the evolving landscape of the auto industry. The volume of filings in FY25 highlights the company’s ongoing work to improve performance, safety, and efficiency in its vehicles. These developments align with its broader goal of delivering smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions.
