Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, and Tata International, the global trading arm of the Tata Group, have launched a state-of-the-art Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune. Named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, the facility is designed to process up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, employing eco-friendly recycling methods.
The RVSF, operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA), a subsidiary of Tata International, is equipped to dismantle both passenger and commercial vehicles from all brands. This initiative is part of Tata Motors’ vision to promote sustainability through circular economy practices.
During the inauguration, Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, said, “Re.Wi.Re reflects our commitment to sustainable practices and our focus on creating value through responsible recycling. By partnering with Tata International, we aim to maximize resource recovery from end-of-life vehicles while supporting India’s environmental goals.”
Rajeev Batra, CEO of TIVA, added, “This facility marks a transformative step in vehicle lifecycle management in India. With the capacity to dismantle 21,000 vehicles annually, it addresses the growing need for organized and sustainable recycling. Our focus is on creating a cleaner and more regulated vehicle recycling ecosystem, aligned with the nation’s scrappage policy.”
The Pune RVSF is part of a broader network of Re.Wi.Re facilities already operational in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. Each facility is fully digitalized, enabling seamless, paperless operations. The centers are equipped with specialized zones for dismantling critical components like batteries, tyres, oils, liquids, and gases, ensuring compliance with environmentally responsible disposal standards.
The facility utilizes advanced cell-type and line-type dismantling methods for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Each vehicle undergoes thorough documentation and dismantling, ensuring safe and eco-friendly processing in line with India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
This initiative underscores Tata Motors’ and Tata International’s shared commitment to fostering a sustainable future while addressing the growing need for efficient vehicle recycling in India.
