TATA.ev, India’s leader in the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, has announced a major initiative to transform the country’s EV charging network. Building on the success of surpassing 200,000 EV sales, TATA.ev is setting an ambitious goal to increase the number of charge points across India to 400,000 by 2027, making EVs even more accessible and convenient for users.
Since 2019, TATA.ev has been leading the development of India’s EV charging infrastructure, starting with seamless home charging solutions and expanding to public charging stations in cities with the highest EV adoption. To accelerate this growth, TATA.ev introduced its ‘Open Collaboration’ framework in 2023, forging key partnerships with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to establish a strong charging network, especially along highways. As a result, the number of public charging stations has doubled in just 15 months, exceeding 18,000 chargers.
TATA.ev now aims to build on this success with ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’, which will focus on installing over 30,000 new public charging points. This expansion will ensure that all EV brands and models have easy access to charging infrastructure, supporting both the growth of EV adoption and India’s green mobility goals.
TATA.ev is set to transform India’s EV charging infrastructure with an ambitious expansion plan aimed at deploying 400,000 charging points by 2027. As part of this initiative, over 30,000 public chargers will be introduced through Open Collaboration 2.0, ensuring wider accessibility. To enhance reliability, TATA.ev will roll out TATA.ev Verified Chargers, which can be easily located and accessed via the iRA app. Additionally, the company will install 500 TATA.ev Mega Chargers, offering priority access to TATA.ev customers, ensuring faster and more efficient charging solutions.
To further improve the EV ownership experience, TATA.ev is launching a dedicated Charging Helpline, providing real-time customer support for charging-related concerns. Additionally, the company will introduce a Unified Payments Wallet, streamlining payments for EV charging across various networks.
With this large-scale expansion, TATA.ev aims to build a seamless, user-friendly, and robust charging ecosystem, accelerating India’s transition to electric mobility. To achieve these goals, TATA.ev is enhancing its collaboration with CPOs to install a vast number of public charging points that support a variety of EVs, ensuring that the growing demand for clean, emission-free mobility is met.
TATA.ev will partner with leading CPOs like Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon to launch 500 TATA.ev Mega Chargers across major cities and highways. These chargers will offer superfast, reliable charging with four charging bays, and TATA.ev customers will benefit from priority access and special tariff advantages. The chargers will be available to all EVs, with a convenient tracking and payment system through the iRA.ev app.
