Tata Elxsi has formed a strategic partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to push the boundaries of Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) development. This collaboration will focus on creating and utilizing virtual models of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ to support cloud-based application development for automotive solutions.
As part of the initiative, Tata Elxsi will build virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platforms using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs). These platforms are designed for automakers and Tier-1 suppliers to improve mobility solutions across passenger, commercial, and off-highway vehicles. The aim is to optimize the SDV development process by minimizing reliance on physical hardware, speeding up both software development and validation cycles.
At CES 2025, Tata Elxsi will demonstrate its AVENIR™ SDV suite integrated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride™ Flex SoC. The demonstration will showcase practical applications in infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), underscoring the benefits of a cloud-native, virtualized approach to automotive software development.
Shaju S, Vice President and Head of the Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi, spoke about the significance of the partnership, stating that the integration of AVENIR with Snapdragon’s Digital Chassis provides a scalable solution for automakers to implement SDV technologies. He emphasized that this collaboration blends software expertise, virtualized models, and ready-to-deploy SDV software to enable the creation of next-generation mobility solutions.
Laxmi Rayapudi, Vice President of Automotive Software Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, highlighted the advantages of cloud-native platforms for early-stage software development. She noted that the combination of Snapdragon virtual SoCs and Tata Elxsi’s AVENIR suite offers a cost-effective and time-efficient approach to developing new applications, while also supporting ongoing software updates throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle to continuously enhance the consumer experience.
